Subaru VIZIV Performance Concept previews next-gen WRX / WRX STI

Subaru has unveiled the latest in its series of VIZIV concept cars at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show today.

Taking centre stage at Subaru’s booth is the all-new VIZIV (vision for innovation) Performance Concept that is designed to “embody the brand’s vision for the future of making cars that deliver enjoyment and peace of mind to its customers”.

Unlike the previous VIZIV-7 and VIZIV-2 concepts, both of which were SUVs, the newest VIZIV concept is a sports sedan. Featuring an aggressive front fascia complete with a low nose and striking C shape headlights, the VIZIV Performance Concept hints at the next-generation WRX and WRX STI performance flagships, both of which are due for 2019 release.

Driving performance is highlighted by a low centre of gravity, the dynamic flare of the guards, use of carbon fibre parts in the bumpers, guards and roof, and the glimpse of the exhaust in the rear bumper. The concept rolls on 20-inch wheels wrapped in 245/40 R20 tyres.

While Subaru has yet to release technical details, expect the VIZIZ Performance Concept to pack a turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive.
