Subaru will unveil the Legacy concept at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show next week. Known as the Liberty in Australia, the current fifth generation Liberty made its debut in 2009.

As 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the Legacy, the concept’s design is said to point to the styling direction of the next generation car. It measures 4,930mm in length, 1,940mm in width and 1,500mm in height while sitting on a 2,880mm wheelbase.

The four-seater concept’s bold front, with what is likely to be Subaru’s new corporate grille, and its sloping roof line gives the car a coupé-like profile. At the back, the design of the taillights mimics that of the Subaru WRX concept that premiered earlier this year in New York.

The interior features leather in a brown base tone with blue accents and an instrument panel that is said to deliver a wide yet solid feel. A multi-function display is located at the centre of the instrument panel, which can be operated like a smart phone or tablet. There is also a head-up display which shows Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist- system’s operation on the windscreen.

The large floor console from the front to the back of the cabin provides an information display for rear-seat passengers too. The concept’s gear shifter is angled to align with the driver’s seating position to inspire a sporty driving feel.
