Stylish new Mazda CX-8 confirmed for Australia. Arriving mid-2018

Mazda Australia has announced the stylish Mazda CX-8 Diesel will join its Australian line up in the second half of 2018.

Sitting between Mazda’s CX-5 and CX-9 in size and hierarchy, the seven-seat CX-8 Diesel is narrower and shorter than its elder sibling, and features a 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D engine promising strong performance and excellent fuel economy.

While no performance figures have been announced, the 2.2-litre twin-turbo diesel is likely to be shared with the CX-5 where it produces 129kW and 420Nm of torque.

The model continues Mazda’s premium KODO design philosophy with a sculpted front signature wing. bold grille and coupe-like silhouette. Inside, the CX-8’s interior is predominantly shared with the smaller CX-5.

Managing Director of Mazda Australia, Vinesh Bhindi, said the Brand-New Mazda CX-8 Diesel will meet Australia’s demand for seven seat diesel SUV’s.

“More and more, Australians are opting for larger SUV’s to suit the demands of their busy lives; the Brand-New Mazda CX-8 Diesel is the perfect fit for those who need the versatility of seven seats and the economy that diesel affords,” said Mr Bhindi.

Pricing and full specifications will be announced closer to the CX-8 launch in the second half of the year.
