SRT unleashes 507kW Viper GT3-R racer for US$459,000

Viper fans who want something more focused can rejoice now, as Chrysler Group has released this SRT Viper GT3-R racer, complete with a GT wing and race stripes. Based on the GTS-R race car that will mark Viper’s return to the 24 Hours Le Mans this weekend, the car was designed and developed by the company’s SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Motorsports team together with Riley Technologies.

According to Chrysler, the GT3-R utilises the same technology developed for the factory GTS-R, including engine, chassis, suspension, electronics and aerodynamics.

The car boasts an aerodynamic package, Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters, six-piston front brake callipers and four-piston rears, lightweight wheels and multi-disc race clutch.

Motivation comes from an uprated version of the 8.3-litre V10 petrol engine that dishes out 507kW of power and 868Nm of torque.

The price for all these madness? US$459,000 and the order books are now opened in the US. However, deliveries won’t happen until late 2013.
