Following a series of photos showing camouflaged prototypes undergoing testing, Skoda has released the next-generation Superb’s official sketch.

Looking rather handsome and classy, the new model appears to be inspired by the VisionC Concept and gets the company’s new corporate grille with its badge sitting on top on the bonnet. Its profile also appears to be relatively streamline, suggesting it may get the coupé look.

According to Skoda, the new model will be the best Skoda ever and be positioned in the upper end of the automotive mid-class. It will be bigger than the current model yet weighing 75kg lighter thanks to Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform on which it is based.

Under the bonnet, a range of petrol and diesel engines will be offered, including a base 1.4-litre petrol unit with 92kW (125 hp), a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol with 191kW (260 hp), as well as a 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines delivering 88kW (120 hp) and 140kW (190 hp).

The next-generation Skoda Superb is expected to be unveiled in February ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015.
