Rolls-Royce SUV scheduled for late 2017 launch

Rolls-Royce is reportedly planning to release its first SUV in late 2017. According to RR’s design boss, Giles Taylor, who told Autocar his team is “sketching to assess the viability of the concept” and he believes such a model would not “undermine the Rolls-Royce brand”.

He also outlined his desire to create a functional vehicle like a shooting brake and not a crossover with a sloping roof. Some sources within the company said the SUV would be priced at £200,000 and above.

While nobody knows exactly which platform the car would be based on, it is believed the Rolls-Royce off-roader will spin off the Ghost family instead of being based on the Phantom, as was previously thought.

Rolls-Royce’s first SUV is not expected to arrive until late 2017, which is not far behind the new Bentley SUV.

The luxury marque also plans to completely refresh its line up between now and 2018, with a new Ghost, new Phantom and its spin offs.
