Renault introduces refreshed Mégane – New Wagon and GT-Line added

The Renualt Mégane range has been given a mid-live makeover, with a Mégane wagon joining the refreshed lineup for the first time – priced from $26,490 plus on-roads for the Dynamic model.

The revitalised range sees the Mégane Hatch launching a new entry level specification – Expression – which starts from $20,900. The Expression CVT Automatic is $22,990 – the same price as the outgoing manual model.

The refreshed lineup also sees the expansion of the Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet range from one specification level to three, starting from $36,990. All three are equipped with a petrol engine mated with a CVT gearbox.

A new GT-Line specification is now available on the entire Mégane variants. Designed by Renault Sport, the GT-Line features a distinctive front bumper with honeycomb grill and boomerang style LED daytime running lights. It is available in a signature Malta Blue colour and sports a Renault Sport inspired interior with sport seats and sports steering wheel.

Along with styling changes, the GT-Line brings a sportier chassis set-up on the Mégane Hatch and Wagon. They can also be optioned with a $3,500 Premium Pack which adds heated front seats, front parking sensors, rear-view camera, panoramic glass sunroof and Renault’s new Visio System.

The Visio System has dual-functionality, combining Lane Departure Warning and Automatic High-Beam Headlights.

Depending on the specification, the Mégane Hatch and new Wagon now come with a rear-view camera with park-assist system linked to the integrated satellite navigation.  To further enhance driver comfort, indicators with highway mode are now standard across the range along with an Air Quality Senor, which monitors the quality of the outside air entering the cabin and automatically activates the air recycling mode when necessary.

In addition, the revitalised Mégane range continues the roll-out of the new user-friendly radio interface, designed in response to customer feedback and first seen on the Mégane R.S. 265.

To commemorate the introduction of the new Mégane Wagon, a limited edition Renault Sport version called the Mégane GT 220 Sport Wagon, will be released.

Limited to just 220 examples in Australia, the Mégane GT 220 Sport Wagon features GT styling, 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, high-performance Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, GT 220 badging and plaque, and a gloss black rear diffuser.

It comes with the sport chassis from the Mégane R.S. 265 – currently not offered in Australia – and the same high-performance engine.  As the name suggests, the Mégane GT 220 Sport Wagon has a maximum power output of 162kW and maximum torque of 340Nm.

The Mégane GT 220 Sport Wagon also introduces Renault’s first Stop & Start technology in Australia, which see fuel consumption drops to 7.6L/100km.

The refreshed Mégane range is on sale now in Australia.
