Porsche Pajun likely to be V6 powered

We have known for a while that Porsche is working on a junior Panamera, dubbed the Pajun. Although the car won’t hit the market until at least 2017, it has been reported that the Panamera’s (pictured above) little brother will be powered exclusively by V6 engines.

It will also be based on a new architecture called MSB, for Modular Sports Car Matrix, Unlike the Porsche Macan which is co-developed with Audi, the Pajun will be a full blooded Porsche, designed in-house and sharing the MSB platform with the next-generation Panamera due in late 2015. .

According to CAR magazine in the UK, the Pajun will come in two iterations, a five-door coupé to start with, and a very sporty shooting brake twelve months down the track.

Both the car’s petrol and diesel V6 engines will be sourced from Audi. The 3.0-litre V6 TDI earmarked for the Pajun S is expected to churn out between 260hp (194kW) and 320hp (239kW).

Meanwhile, the 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol will deliver 320hp (239kW) and 325lb-ft (441Nm) of torque in base form, and 420hp (313kW) and 413lb-ft (560Nm) in the twin-turbo edition.

Porsche is placing high hopes on the Pajun in helping it achieve a target of 200,000 cars per year in the mid-term.
