Please bring back the Lancer Evolution, Mitsubishi

While we already know Mitsubishi would not be building a new Lancer Evolution after this generation, that doesn’t stop a talented industrial design student from the Philippines from coming up with his interpretation of the EVO XI.

To create his EVO XI, Enoch Gabriel Gonzales first has to design the ‘next-generation’ Mitsubishi Lancer’. As you can see from these rendering, Enoch’s creation is rather sharp and well proportioned, with a profile that seems to draw inspiration from the Mazda3 sedan.

Its aggressive front fascia is dominated by a gaping grille flanked by a pair of slender headlights. At the back, the fastback flows into a built-in boot spoiler.

All these form the basis for his EVO XI, which gets a mean-looking face, thanks to the deeper grille, sportier front bumper complete with front splitter and the EVO’s trademark trio of bonnet vents.

Along the sides, there’s a subtle side sill extension a la VW Golf GTI and a set of handsome dark painted alloys.

Moving around the back, an EVO just isn’t an EVO without the towering rear spoiler. A bold diffuser and a pair of massive tailpipes complete the look.

Sadly, we will unlikely to see any of these turning into reality with Mitsubishi confirming it is focusing on SUV’s and EV’s instead.
