Peugeot has launched its new 208-based compact SUV, the Peugeot 2008. Priced from $21,990 plus on-road costs for the 1.2 Vti Active Petrol Manual, the 2008 comes in a choice of two petrol and one diesel engine in three trim levels.

The petrol range includes a 60kW/118Nm 1.2 VTi 3-cylinder engine and a 88kW/160Nm 1.6 VTi engine, while the diesel is made up of a 68kW/230Nm 1.6 e-HDi engine with engine Stop&Start. All are paired with a standard 5-speed manual transmission, with a 4-speed automatic optionally available with the 1.6 VTi.

Combined fuel economy is rated at 4.0L/100km for the 1.6 e-HDi, 4.9L/100km for the 1.2 VTi and 5.9L/100km (6.5L/100km for the auto) for the 1.6 VTi.

The urban SUV sports Peugeot’s latest corporate face, with sharp lines and an expressive feline face, emphasised by the LED daytime running lights. The roof features dynamic curves inspired by the Peugeot RCZ.

Peugeot 2008 Grip Control

Suspended on front MacPherson struts and rear torsion beam suspension, Peugeot promises a hatchback like driving experience. The range-topping Outdoor is also equipped with PSA Group’s Grip Control and special ‘Mud&Snow’ tyres for improved traction.

It works off the car’s traction control system and operates via a dial located on the centre console. There are five modes to choose from: Standard, Snow, Off-Road, Sand and ESP Off.

Inside, the 2008’s 2.54m wheelbase translates to a roomy interior, with a 410 litre boot capacity. Standard equipment is comprehensive, with standard rear camera, 7-inch multi-function touch screen infotainment system, satellite-navigation (except entry-level Active) and alloy wheels.

Peugeot Australia has also launched a 5 Year “Assure Capped Price Servicing Plan” with the 2008 which cost the customer $369 a year over the first five years.

The Peugeot 2008 is available in Makaha Brown, Artense Grey, Platinum Grey, Spirit Grey, Calado Blue, Perla Nera Black and Bianca White.
