Patent images show new LaFerrari-based special edition model

A number of patent images showing a new bespoke model from Ferrari have surfaced on the internet.

Filed on 5 August 2016, the images show what looks like a LaFerrari based special edition model with LED strip headlights and more aggressive bumper and bonnet designs.

Additional aero features are also visible near the front wheel arches, where air flows through a channel between the bonnet and front fenders before exiting around the doors and into the rear air intakes.

Around the back, the mysterious model sports a slim horizontal light strip, while the exhausts have also been reprofiled to be more angular.

If this is indeed another new limited edition model, Ferrari’s Special Projects (SP) division has certainly been working hard, as this comes after the outfit produced the 458 MM Speciale, J50 and more recently, the SP 275 rw competizione.

However, it isn’t unusual for carmakers to apply for official patents even if they have no intention of building the vehicle. We’ll just have to wait and see to find out.
