Official photos: 2014 Honda Civic Tourer

Honda has released the first photos of the 2014 Honda Civic Tourer ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut.

The production version closely resembles the concept previewed earlier this year, with a front fascia borrowed from the Civic Hatchback, on which it is based. The Tourer also sport a floating roof and wraparound taillights to give it that sporty edge.

Similarly, the interior is lifted straight out of the Civic Hatch but now boasts class-leading interior room and up to 1,668 litres of luggage space. It is also equipped with rear “Magic Seats” that tumble down in one easy motion. A brand new Adaptive Damper System (ADS) – Honda’s first – will help enhance stability and comfort under varying load and driving conditions.

Motivation is also likely to be shared with its hatch sibling, meaning a 1.6-litre DTEC diesel with 88kW and 300Nm and a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol that produces 104kW and 174Nm.

The Honda Civic Tourer will be built at Honda’s assembly plant in the United Kingdom and European sales are scheduled to begin early next year.

Honda has no plans to bring the Tourer into Australia at this stage.
