Nissan Pulsar Hatch and SSS launched from $18,990

The Nissan Pulsar’s Australian comeback is now complete with the official launch of the all-new Pulsar Hatch and Pulsar SSS today.

“Nissan is excited to complete the comeback of the Pulsar today with the launch of the Pulsar hatch,” said Nissan Motor Company (Australia) Managing Director and CEO, William F Peffer Jr.

“The Australian market has embraced the Pulsar sedan since its launch in February. Now we can offer an even more compelling case with the four grades of Pulsar hatch, including two turbocharged variants.

“The Nissan Pulsar hatch is an extremely competitive, value-rich proposition for Australian new car buyers. And for those looking for additional excitement, the return of the Pulsar SSS offers affordable excitement from a performance hatch, powered by Nissan’s well-renowned 1.6-litre DIG (Direct Injection Gasoline) Turbo engine.”

The Pulsar hatch is available in four model grades – ST, ST-L, ST-S and SSS, with prices starting from $18,990 for the ST, and top out at $29,240 for the SSS.

The ST and ST-L are powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 96kW@6,000rpm and 174Nm@4,800rpm. It is paired with a standard 6-speed manual transmission, with an Xtronic CVT as an option. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.2L/100km for the manual and 6.7L/100km for the CVT, while CO2 emission is 169g/km and 161g/km respectively.

Adding spice to the Pulsar hatch range are the Pulsar ST-S and SSS, both powered by Nissan’s 1.6-litre DIG (Direct Injection Gasoline) Turbocharge petrol engine. It delivers 140kW@5,600rpm and 240Nm@2,000rpm and mated with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. An Xtronic CVT with manual mode is optional. Fuel consumption is said to be 7.7L/100lm for the manual and 7.8L/100km for the CVT and CO2 emission is rated at 185g/km and 187g/km respectively.
