New Information On SSC Ultimate Aero II Reveals 442 kph Top Speed!

The record for the fastest production car currently held by the 435kph Bugatti Veyron SuperSports will soon be shattered once again as the SSC Ultimate Aero II inch closer to its release. Last month we posted a teaser, now new pictures of the supercar have been revealed along with new technical information.

Powering the Aero II is a 6.8 litre twin turbo V8 engine that produces  a staggering 1,350 horsepower at 9000 rpm. The entire chasis is made of carbon fibre, including a set of world’s first full carbon fibre wheels developed by Australian company Carbon Revolution. The one piece 19 inch wheel weighs only 5.8 kg. Unlike the Bugatti Veyron, lightness takes priority in the Aero II and it shows in its dry weight, at only 1,200kg.

The end result is a power-to-weight ratio of more than 1,000 horsepower per tonne. This means zero to 100 kph in 2.8 seconds and an expected top speed of 442 kph! Now over to you Bugatti.

All this performance of course comes at a high price. The Aero II will cost $970,000 when it goes on sale in 2011.
