New Ferrari California to premier at Geneva Motor Show

Ferrari 149M Project

The Ferrari California replacement is expected to be revealed on 12 February. This follows an online flyer for the new car, confirming the date of the Ferrari “149M Project”.

Although it may seem vague, the current generation California wears the official internal code of F149. The Italian supercar maker is known to use the alphabet M to denote Modificado, which means that the new car is closely related to the California, but with modifications.

While recent spy photos show test mules that look almost identical to the current California, the biggest change can be found under the bonnet. It is understood that the new California will usher in the era of turbocharging with a new 3.8-litre twin-turbo direct-injected V8 engine that develops 412kW.

In terms of styling, the new car will have a design greatly influenced by the F12 Berlinetta while still keeping its retractable hard top. Inside, the cabin will also be revitalised with a new-look dashboard and a thoroughly new multimedia system.

The new Ferrari California will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, with deliveries scheduled to take place in May.
