New Details Emerged on Next-Generation Nissan Dualis

Nissan has released new details on the next-generation Nissan Dualis (Qashqai in overseas market), due to be unveiled in November this year.

The 2014 Nissan Dualis will have an innovative design that will be more upscale than the current model, according to Nissan executive vice president, Andy Palmer. Its styling will be heavily influenced by the Hi-Cross Concept shown here. The new crossover’s dimension will also be about the same size as today’s model.

Inside, we can expect better quality materials and an improved design. “Nissan has a scale for measuring overall quality and fit and finish of its cars. The new Qashqai is the first model to score a six,” said Palmer.

Engine options remained unconfirmed but expect a 1.6-litre diesel and a supercharged 1.2-litre petrol developing 84 kW (113 hp) and 190 Nm of torque to join the current offerings. A plug-in hybrid model is also scheduled to be made available in 2015.

The new crossover sits on a new modular platform that will also be used in the next-generation X-Trail. As with the current model, both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants will be offered.
