MY14 Holden Cruze packs more features, adds 1.6L turbo

Holden has updated its MY14 Cruze with the addition of a new engine option, second-generation six-speed automatic transmission and Holden MyLink. Prices have also been reduced across the range, with some models offering over $4,000 in extra value and new entry level Equipe priced from just $19,490.

The new 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is standard on the Cruze SRi and SRi-V. It is sourced from GM’s Hungary engine plant and delivers 132kW @ 5,500rpm and 230Nm @ 2,200rpm. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.4L/100km when paired with the 6-speed manual gearbox and 7.9L/100km with the new 6-speed automatic.

The new six-speed Active Select automatic transmission is optional across the range. On the SRi and SRi-V, it features a Sport mode that automatically drops the transmission to a lower gear when taking a corner to improve acceleration out of the curve. It will also maintain a lower gear during continued high-throttle driving and aggressive braking.

Every MY14 Cruze sedan and hatchback also features Holden’s MyLink Infotainment system as standard. It is an app-enabled in-car technology and is offered for the first time in a locally made car. MyLink features a 7” full colour touchscreen display, Bluetooth audio streaming and phone connectivity, Pandora and Stitcher apps (compatible with iOS and Android devices, data streams via the phone’s 3G connection), Voice recognition and Siri Eyes Free integration. Satellite navigation is also standard, albeit on the SRi-V only.

Three new colours are also added to the range – Fantale, Regal Peacock and Prussian Steel.
