Mitsubishi Outlander lands in Australia priced from A$28,990

 

Mitsubishi Motor’s next-generation Outlander has hit Australian showrooms, priced from $28,990 plus on-road costs for the entry-level 2.0-litre petrol manual 2WD ES.

The headline act for the new Outlander is the debut of a couple advanced safety technology, albeit as an option on the range topping Aspire.

The Premium Pack bundles Mitsubishi’s Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM) and Adaptive Cruise Control System (ACC) with a power tailgate, a 7” touch screen infotainment system and a 9 speakers Rockford Fosgate sound system for $5,500.

Built on an all-new versatile global platform, the new Outlander is powered by either a petrol or diesel engines, with a Plug-in EV Hybrid joining the range in mid-2013.

All models are expected to score a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, thanks to 7 airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, reverse sensors, Hill-Start Assist and a full-size spare wheel.

Towing capacity has also been increased compared with the outgoing model, with petrol models capable of 1,600kg and diesel models towing up to an impressive 2,000kg.

Inside, the new Outlander features soft-touch finishes, silver and wood accents and gloss black appliqués. The SUV’s second- and third-row seats can also be configured into five, six or seven seats, while cargo area can be further increased with the 60/40 split rear seats.

Standard features across the range include automatic-folding door mirrors, Bluetooth, climate control air-conditioning and CD player. The mid-range LS adds 16-inch alloys, front fogs, 6.1” touch screen infotainment system, rear privacy glass and reverse camera.

Buyers choosing the range topping Aspire can look forward to 18-inch alloys, outer scuff plates, rain-sensing wipers, auto-headlights, leather interior, powered driver’s seat, seat warmers and Smart Key with One-Touch Start.
