Mercedes-Benz GL-Class on sale now from $129,900

Mercedes-Benz has today announced the price of the new second-generation GL-Class, the company’s full-sized luxury SUV. Starting from $129,900 plus on-road costs for the GL 350 BlueTEC, Mercedes has also introduced an AMG model for the Australian market, the GL 63 AMG.

“The GL-Class represents luxury SUV motoring, combining cutting-edge technology and driver assistance systems with uncompromised comfort” said Mr Horst Von Sanden, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars Australia/Pacific.

“The new GL-Class is comprehensively equipped with safety and convenience features that provide exceptional value to customers in this segment,” he added.

The GL 350 BlueTEC is propelled by a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine with 190kW@3,600rpm and 620Nm @ 1,600-2400rpm.It sprints from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds while consuming just 7.7L/100km. Top speed is electronically limited to 210km/h.

The mid-range $154,900 GL 500 BlueEFFICIENCY is equipped with a 4.7-litre turbocharged petrol V8 delivering 320kW@5,250rpm and 700Nm @ 1,800-3,500rpm. It propels the 2,445kg SUV from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds and consumes 11.5L/100km of fuel. Top speed is similarly limited to 210km/h.

The new to the range GL 63 AMG meanwhile is equipped with a 5.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 that pushes out 419kW @ 5,250-5,750rpm and 760Nm @ 2,000-5,000rpm. It is capable of hurling the 7-seat SUV from 0-100km/h in just 4.9 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. It consumes 12.3L/100km of fuel.

All models have 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive and are paired with Mercedes’ 7G-TRONIC PLUS dual-clutch transmission, while the GL 63 AMG is mated with an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-TRONIC double-clutch gearbox.

A host of exceptional features are standard on the new GL-Class including EASY-PACK tail gate, EASY-ENTRY 3rd row access, AIRMATIC package – with air suspension and Adaptive Damping System, COMAND Online, THERMOTRONIC Front & Rear automatic climate control, Intelligent Light System, glass electric sunroof with slide/tilt function and an electric parking brake.

The new GL-Class also incorporates a host of standard safety equipment such as ATTENTION ASSIST, PRE-SAFE®, 360° camera, DISTRONIC PLUS, Brake Assist BAS PLUS, Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist.
