Mercedes Benz Concept Style Coupé – Leaked Ahead of 2012 Beijing Motor Show

What you are looking at is Mercedes’ ‘entry level’ four door coupé, tipped to be called the CLC or CLA. The concept previews the German manufacturer’s A-Class based sister to the CLS.

Leaked ahead of its debut at next week’s 2012 Beijing Motor Show, the production model is said to stay quite faithful to the concept when it hits the market in 2013.

Officially called the Concept Style Coupé, the show car sports the latest A-Class’ face but there’s where the similarities end. From the A-pillar back, the dramatic swooping roof line provides the car with a lowered and sportier stance.

Under the elegant sheet-metal lives a real world engine – a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that has the Volkswagen Golf GTI strictly on its sight. It produces the same 155kW power as the Volkswagen hot hatch but sends them to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Concept Style Coupé, and its production brethren, sits on Mercedes’ new modular ‘MFA’ platform that will spawn further compact models, including a baby SUV and potentially a sub-SLK sports car.
