Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class on sale in October from $49,900

Mercedes-Benz Australia has announced the pricing and specifications of the new CLA-Class. It will be available in three variants for the local market, with price starting from $49,900 plus on-roads for the CLA200.

“The new CLA-Class seamlessly transfers the expressive avant-garde coupé design into series production” said Horst Von Sanden, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Australia.

“The CLA-Class redefines aerodynamic efficiency and emphasises the desire to provide our customers with cutting-edge technology and safety equipment.”

The new CLA shares its underpinnings with the popular Mercedes-Benz A-Class, but wrapped in a dynamic slippery body. All models are equipped with 18” wheels, THERMOTRONIC, Becker Map PILOT navigation and a reversing camera.

Additionally, safety features such as COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, Blind Sport Assist, PRE-SAFE, Attention Assist and Active Bonnet are standard.

The entry level CLA200 is a $9,000 premium over the similarly equipped A200. It is powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 115kW of power and 250Nm of torque. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 5.7L/100km.

Next up is the CLA250 Sport. At $63,400, it cost $13,500 more than the A250 Sport sharing the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It delivers 155kW and 350Nm to the front wheels. It is differentiated by the Diamond Grille, Intelligent Light System, 18” AMG wheels, sports pedals, AMG tuned suspension, sports steering wheel and heated electric leather sports seats with memory function.

The range is topped-out with the CLA 45 AMG at $86,900, $12,000 more than the A45 AMG. It is propelled by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that pushes out 265kW and up to 450Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system that propels the low-slung four-door coupé from 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited at 270km/h.

The CLA 45 AMG is equipped with AMG Driver’s Package, AMG Night Package, AMG Performance Steering Wheel, COMAND Navigation and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, DISTRONIC PLUS and Lane Keeping Assist as standard.

The new CLA-Class will go on sale in Australia in October.
