Mercedes-Benz A-Class revised for 2016 with new tech and pricing

Pricing and specifications have been announced by Mercedes-Benz Australia for the facelifted 2016 A-Class which is set to go on sale in January of 2016 with new tech and a slight price increase.

The A-Class includes models for any budget starting with the entry level A 180 worth $37,200 all the way up to the AMG Spec A 45 4MATIC which will set you back $77,900. The new A-Class is set to be the sportiest yet with its dynamically curved surfaces, coupe like windows and dual exhaust standard across all models.

The entry level A 180 provides exceptional value right from the start, it sports a turbocharged 1.6-litre turbo engine consuming 5.8 L/100km, 17″ wheels, GPS navigation, blind spot assist, reversing camera, key-less start, dynamic select and diamond grill as standard.

Those more inclined to luxury can order the A 200, it comes with all the entry level features offered in the base but with 18″ wheels, mirror package and sports seats standard. Customers can order the A 200 in either a 115kW 1.6-litre turbo petrol or 100kW 2.1-litre turbo diesel with consumption’s of 4.2 L/100km and 2.1 L/100km respectively.

If a sporty drive is what you’re after then you have the choice between the A 250 Sport 4MATIC or the extreme AMG A 45 4MATIC. Both sport variants come with a 7-speed double clutch gearbox and all-wheel-drive as standard. The A 250 produces 160 kW and comes comes with AMG wheels, bodystyling, ride control and a panoramic sunroof.

The A 45 AMG differs with its 280 kW motor with 475 Nm of torque, it’s capable of a 0 – 100 time of just 4.2 seconds. The hot hatch also receives revised gear ratios, aerodynamic tuning and the new AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes which raises overall performance. Handling is vastly improved thanks to its newly developed front locking differential, which improves traction in sporty driving environments. The AMG variant also receives 19″ AMG wheels, performance seats and the AMG performance exhaust.

The new A-class will all come with Apple Carplay integration as standard allowing drivers to take advantage of hands free communication, navigation, music playback, notifications as well as Siri voice control.

Preorders for the new A-Class are now open, shipments and general sales will begin in January. Pricing for all variants can be found below.
