Mercedes-AMG farewells G-Wagen with V12 G 65 Final Edition

Mercedes-AMG is sending off the G-Wagen with an exclusive G 65 Final Edition packing a 463kW/1,000Nm hand-built 6.0-litre biturbo V12 engine.

Limited to just 65 units worldwide, the big brute is capable of storming from 0-100km/ in just 5.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of 230km/h.

The V12 engine is paired with an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive system. Unlike the company’s current crop of SUVS, the G-Wagen’s high ground clearance and long suspension travel means it is as capable off road.

It comes with a maximum fording depth of 60cm when driving through water and mud, slope climbing ability of up to 80% on suitable surfaces, along with driving stability angles of 28o, approach/departure angle of 27o and breakcover angle of 22o.

Exterior highlights include 21-inch five-twin-spoke alloy wheels in bronze, silver brake calipers, AMG Sport trim strips on the sides, matte bronze finished under ride guard, trim elements in the bumpers, grille surround and side mirrors. Black is also a major highlight with the radiator grille mesh, running boards, tailpipes and exterior protective strips all painted black.

Inside, as befitting a Mercedes-AMG, the Exclusive package brings black nappa leather with seat side bolsters in a carbon fibre look and topstitching in light brown.

There’s also carbon fibre trim elements, bronze decorative stitching, AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in black nappa leather and climate controlled driver and front passenger seats.

To remind owners they are in a special edition, the grap handle and floors mats are milled with ‘Edition’ lettering.
