Lotus unveils track-only supercharged 2014 Elise S Cup R

2014 Lotus Elise S Cup R

Following the success of the Lotus Exige V6 Cup and its hardcore sibling, the Exige V6 Cup R, Lotus Motorsport has announced the latest addition to its racing portfolio, the track-only Lotus Elise S Cup R.

Evolving from the 1.6-litre Elise platform, this is the first time the supercharged Elise S’ mid-mounted, transverse 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE engine is used in a Cup variant. The all alloy Toyota-sourced engine has a Magnuson R900 supercharger utilising Eaton TVS technology bolted on. It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission.

The car also receives a motorsport-specific engine control module and a CFD proved aero pack comprising front splitter, barge boards, winglets, rear diffuser, floor extensions and a rear wing. Despite the extra body kit and race-ready additions, the Elise S Cup R tips the scales at just 924kg.

It is also equipped with tow hooks, a hardtop, a polycarbonate rear window and 16-inch front, 17-inch rear forged alloy wheels shod with Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 LTS tyres. The model is suspended on a sport-tuned suspension with adjustable springs and dampers and comes with high-performance brakes and a “triple-pass” radiator.

The Lotus Elise S Cup R will be priced from £39,125 and will be eligible to compete in the 2014 Lotus Cup racing series.
