Renault has wheeled out yet another limited-edition model of the Mégane R.S. Dubbed the R.S. 275 Trophy, the hot hatch is based on the Cup chassis with limited slip differential and sports the same two-litre petrol engine as the standard car.
However, it produces a peak of 275hp at 5,500rpm – 10hp more than the standard car – thanks to Renault Sports engineers’ magic touch in tweaking the engine. Maximum torque remains unchanged at 360Nm, available from 3,000 to 5,000rpm. Finally, the car features carbon exhaust tail pipe by Akrapovic.
The limited-edition model wears a new livery that includes Trophy branding on the Platinum Grey F1-type front blade and personalised body sides with Trophy decals. Platinum Grey has also been selected for the chequered flag graphic at the bottom of the doors.
Importantly, the car gets numbered door sill guards to remind owners of the car’s exclusivity.
Inside, the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy comes with leather and Alcantara Recaro bucket seats with visible red stitching. The red stitching has been carried over to the rear bench seat, while the head rests feature Renault Sport badging.
Other interior highlights include visible red stitching for the Alcantara steering wheel trim and hand brake bellow, as well as a Zamac gear lever knob.
Only 100 examples of the R.S. 275 Trophy will make it to Australian shores, priced at $52,990 (excluding on-roads) and finished exclusively in either pearl white or liquid yellow.
Commenting on the launch of the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy, Justin Hocevar, Managing Director Renault Australia, said: “Renault Sport has always been known for its exceptional limited editions and the new Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy is a fitting addition to the range.
“Created to commemorate our recent front-wheel-drive lap record of the notorious Nürburgring, the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy brings all the expertise of Renault Sport to life in an exciting and engaging package. The new Alcantara Recaro bucket seats provide a luxurious and striking interior while the Akrapovi? exhaust system ensures the driver feels engaged with their driving experience.
“As soon as this vehicle was launched globally we saw customers wanting to place a deposit to secure one in Australia. We’ve been able to secure an incredibly attractive price for such a special vehicle and I’m confident these 100 vehicles will be very popular with Renault Sport fans across Australia,” said Hocevar
