Lexus ends LF-A production

Lexus has announced that production of the company’s supercar, the Lexus LF-A, has ended with all 500 units sold.

The 4.8-litre V10 sports car entered into production in December 2010, with twenty being built every month. The 500th LF-A rolling off the production line last Friday. It will be put through the usual inspection and road test before being handed over to one last lucky customer.

Of the 500 that were manufactured worldwide, 50 units were the potent track focused LF-A Nurburgring Package, which came with a tweaked V10 that pumps out an additional 7.4kW (10hp) for a total of 419kW (562hp). It sports an updated 6-speed sequential gearbox and a number of body parts made from lightweight carbon fibre.

Despite it stratospheric price tag, the Lexus LF-A is now one of the most collectible supercars on the planet.
