We could be seeing more high-performance SRT variants from Jeep, according to the brand’s CEO, Mike Manley.

Speaking to our friends at CarAdvice at the Paris Motor Show, Manley revealed that he could definitely see the potential for SRT variants of the recently launched Cherokee (read ForceGT‘s review) and Renegade models.

“I think if you look at Cherokee, there’s styling there, and even to some extent, Renegade there’s opportunity for us to make sure there is a sport version available,” he explained. However, he pointed out that the company has no immediate plans to produce a Cherokee or Renegade SRT model.

Nevertheless, developing a Cherokee SRT variant could be a relatively easy task for Jeep as the model shares a platform with the Dodge Dart and the latter has announced plans for a Dart SRT, which is set to hit the market in 2016. It will feature a high-output turbocharged engine and an all-wheel drive system.
