Jaguar XJR pricing and specifications – arrives late 2013

Jaguar has announced the pricing and specifications of its flagship XJR sports sedan in Australia, the first ‘R’ model in the latest generation XJ range. The 404kW XJR is priced from $298,000 plus on-road costs and will arrive late this year.

Powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine developing 404kW of power at 6,500rpm and 680Nm of torque from 2,000 – 5,500rpm and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the XJR is capable of sprinting from 0 – 100km/h in 4.6 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 280km/h.

It comes standard with an Intelligent engine Stop/Start system for a combine fuel consumption of 11.6L/100km. CO2 emission is rated at 270g/km.

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director of Jaguar said: “The new XJR epitomises the three pillars of technology, performance and seductive design which the Jaguar brand stands for in the twenty-first century, while delivering new levels of dynamic ability in a luxury saloon.”

The high performance sedan sits on a bespoke chassis with aerodynamics developments and is touted as the most focus, agile and responsive member of the XJ family.

Visually, the car can be distinguished by its new front splitter, aerodynamic sill section, rear lip spoiler and unique ‘R’ bonnet louvres for that stealthy look. It also rolls on 20-inch five-spoke ‘Farallon’ forged alloy wheels shod with bespoke low profile Pirelli tyres to maximise grip.

The XJR’s dampers and spring rates have both been optimised for handling and stability while providing a supple ride.

XJR customers can choose from an exterior palette comprising ten colours: Polaris White, Ebony, Ultimate Black, Stratus Grey, Lunar Grey, Rhodium Silver, Cashmere, Caviar, Carnelian Red and Black Amethyst.

This colour palette is complemented inside the XJR with a unique combination of colourways. Jet leather trim is available with a choice of either Ivory, London Tan or Red Zone inserts on the seat facings. The seats themselves are embossed with the ‘R’ logo and can be finished with a choice of stitching in either Red or London Tan. Jet suede cloth headlining comes as standard with an optional leather headlining in Jet to complement the XJR interior.

The XJR is fitted as standard with an 825W, 18-speaker surround-sound system from British audio experts Meridian.

The Jaguar XJR will only be available in Standard Wheelbase in Australia.
