Jaguar XJ refreshed for 2018, gets 423kW XJR575 range-topper

Jaguar has given its XJ a refresh for 2018 along with the introduction of the XJR575 performance flagship model.

Boasting 423kW and 700Nm of torque from a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, the new XJR575 will sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 300km/h.

Offered in standard wheelbase, customers will be able to choose between two bespoke exterior colour finishes – Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey.

The range-topper can be distinguished via unique rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper, lower air intakes featuring Gloss Black surrounds, twin bonnet louvres and 20-inch Farallon gloss-black wheels with red painted brake calipers.

Inside the XJR575 features bespoke embossed tread plates, 575 intaglio and diamond-quilted seating available in Jet/Jet and Ivory/Jet colour options and finished with additional 575 branding.

For 2018MY the XJ features a number of technology upgrades which enhance connectivity with 4G Wi-Fi capability, allowing occupants to stay online on the move with as many as eight devices.

On the safety front, 2018MY XJs gain Forward Traffic Detection designed to assist drivers when pulling out of blind junctions, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Condition Monitor, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection that operates from 5 – 60km/h, All-Surface Progress Control, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Reverse Traffic Detection, Blind Spot Monitoring, 360-degree Surround Camera System and semi-automated bay- and parallel-parking.

In addition, the central console now features a larger 10-inch touchscreen. As well as giving customers greater clarity, the bigger screen functions like a smartphone allowing occupants to pinch and zoom when using satellite navigation and create custom homepages for shortcuts to favoured features.

The driver gets a configurable 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display offering full-screen navigation.

The 2018 Jaguar XJ goes on sale Q1, 2018.
