Is this the next-generation Lexus CT?

Despite speculation that the Lexus CT hybrid hatch will be replaced with a new compact SUV (previewed by the Lexus UX concept) in the brand’s line-up, Italian website OmniAuto has released a realistic rendering of the second-generation CT.

Taking clues from the Lexus LF-FC concept and current-generation Lexus IS sedan, the rendered CT features the brand’s now familiar spindle grille, flowing lines and sculpted panels. Rolling on large wheels from the GS F, the rendering is stroking all the right chords in our eyes.

Lexus has so far yet to announce a new replacement for the six years old CT, raising questions on the hybrid hatch’s future.

The current CT 200h is powered by the Lexus’ Hybrid Drive system which consist of a 1.8-litre four-cylinder 73kW/142Nm petrol engine paired with a 60kW/207Nm electric motor. Combined, they channel 100kW and 207Nm to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
