Is this the next-generation Audi RS5 Sportback?

We have seen the all-new Audi A5 and S5 Sportback. The flagship RS5 though, is still not quite here yet. But thanks to the world of computer rendering, we now have a glimpse of what’s to come from Audi’s performance division.

Avid photoshopper Theophilus Chin have a fairly good idea of what we can expect of the next-generation RS5 with this realistic rendering. And to make it even more interesting, the envisioner has chosen the Sportback version as a base for the illustration.

The current RS5 is only available as a coupe and its successor has been seen recently doing its round at the Nurburgring. While Audi has not officially confirmed (nor ruled out) a RS5 Sportback for the new model, it’s quite likely the four-door coupe will eventually see the light given that BMW is already offering the M3 sedan to complement the M4 and Mercedes has both sedan and coupe versions of its C 63 AMG.

In trend with downsizing, expect the next RS5 to lose two cylinders in favor of a turbocharged V6. If the new S5 Sportback (below) is of any indication, the new RS5 performance hero will likely get a tuned up version of the S5’s 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 powerplant producing at least 300kW and 600Nm.
