This is a car we want to see Honda build – the Civic Type R coupe. Based on the Civic coupe concept first unveiled at the New York Auto Show earlier this month, these impressive renderings of the Civic Type R coupe by Wild Speed will surely make any enthusiast’s heart skip a beat.

With two-doors, an aggressive body kit, large wheels filling up the wheel arches and Corvette-style centre shooting quad exhaust tips, this Civic Type R coupe should be anything but imagination.

If ever greenlighted for production, the Civic Type R coupe will most likely adopt the stonking 231kW/400Nm direct-injected turbocharged 2.0 litre VTEC Turbo petrol engine from the new Civic Type R hatch.

Red-lining at 7,000 rpm, the engine will motivate the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Like the hatch, the launch from zero to 100km/h will be covered in 5.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 270km/h.
