Is this the new extra LWB Mercedes S-Class Maybach? [video]

Following Mercedes-Benz’s intention to revive the Maybach name plate, not as a separate brand, but as a special badge on its range-topping models, an extra long wheelbase S-Class prototype has been spotted on the street somewhere in Spain.

The new variant, which will quite possibly wear the Maybach badge, is around 200mm longer than the LWB S-Class, which measures 5,246mm. Inside, it will retain the 2+2 seating arrangement as the standard car.

The prototype is also said to be an S600, meaning there’s a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine underneath its bonnet that produces 380kW (530HP) and 830Nm (612 lb-ft) of torque.

If the Maybach revival is successful, Mercedes-Benz will also consider reintroducing the Pullman badge on an even longer S-Class, rumoured to have a 2+2+2 seating arrangement.

While nothing is official, the S-Class Maybach could make its official debut at the Beijing Auto Show where large luxury sedans are hugely popular with the Chinese.
