Infiniti confirms Emerg-e concept won’t make production

Infiniti’s CEO, Johan de Nysschen has confirmed that the Infiniti Emerg-e concept will not make it to production.

Speaking at the Paris Motor Show, de Nysschen said “The Emerg-e is not planned for future production at all, but it does offer an insight into our future powertrains and design direction.”

However, he did point out that certain design elements from the Emerg-e will flow on to the 2014 Infiniti G-Series, particularly the interior.

It isn’t clear why the Japanese company changed its mind on green-lighting the hybrid sportscar, as the company was considering a production version as recent as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where a working prototype was entered into the race.

One likely explanation is executives weren’t sure if Infiniti would be able to deliver the performance expected from a halo model.
