Hyundai is commemorating its 30 years in Australia with limited-production special edition versions of its compact Tucson and seven-seat Santa Fe SUVs.

Limited to just 300 examples each, the special edition models deliver added performance and unique features and equipment.

The all-wheel-drive Tucson ’30’ Special Edition is powered by the company’s familiar 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developing 130kW/265Nm. It drives all four wheels through a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).

Importantly, Santa Fe ‘30’ Special Edition debuts Hyundai’s V6 petrol engine in Australia. The 3.3-litre V6 engine is used for the first time in the Santa Fe range and develops 199kW and 318Nm. Unlike the standard model’s AWD format, the special edition is 2WD and drives through a six-speed automatic transmission.

“We wanted to do something special to commemorate Hyundai’s 30 proud years in Australia and I’m happy to say we’ve achieved that with our unique Tucson ‘30’ and Santa Fe ‘30’ Special Editions,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Operating Officer, Scott Grant.

“These limited-edition versions of our standout medium and large SUV contenders really live up to their ‘30’ Special Edition status. They combine real-value, unique looks, features and enhanced performance. I honestly expect they’ll sell quickly.”

Based on the ActiveX model variant, the Tucson ‘30’ Special Edition adds a stealthy combination of matte-grey side steps and matte-black 19-inch RAYS alloy wheels. At the rear, the Tucson ’30’ Limited Edition also sports a new twin-outlet muffler neatly integrated into the rear bumper, which also incorporate a sporty rear diffuser.

The Ash Blue exterior paint is exclusive to the Tucson ‘30’ Limited Edition together with unique ‘30’ badging.

Santa Fe ‘30’ Special Edition

Apart from the more powerful 3.3-litre petrol V6 engine the Santa Fe ‘30’ Special Edition brings a host of comfort and convenience enhancements over the 2.4-litre-engined Santa Fe Series II Active variant on which it is based.

Other features exclusive to Santa Fe ‘30’ Special Edition include heated exterior mirrors, exclusive Mineral Blue metallic exterior paint, chrome exterior door handles, rear privacy glass, 19-inch alloy wheels in dark-grey finish, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and, like the Tucson ‘30’ Special Edition variant, unique ’30’ badging.

Inside, the ‘30’ Special Edition Santa Fe gets a leather-appointed interior and enhanced comfort and convenience features including dual-zone climate-control air-conditioning and glovebox cooling.
