Honda’s newest City runabout launched from $15,990

Honda’s Jazz-based urban runabout, the Honda City, has been introduced with a sharp starting price of $15,990 excluding on-roads for the City VTi with manual transmission.

The new city car, one of the most spacious in its class, is powered by a 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine with Honda’s environmentally conscious Earth Dreams Technology. It is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) sending 88 kW of power and 145 Nm of torque to the front wheels. Average fuel consumption is rated at 5.7L/100km for the combined cycle.

“At $15,990* for the VTi manual, the new Honda City represents outstanding value for money with so many more features and advanced technology,” said Honda Australia Director Mr. Stephen Collins. “We are confident anyone looking for a stylish small sedan will love the new City.”

“The Honda City, available in 55 countries, has sold over 2.2 million units since its introduction,” said Collins. “The City is a cut above its competition and with new styling, loads of standard features such as Display Audio and reversing camera, it represents excellent value for money.”

The exterior of the new Honda City has been given a revamped with sharper character lines for a sleeker and more cab-forward side profile. Building on the current generation’s already roomy interior, Honda’s engineer have designed the new model with even more headroom, legroom and shoulder room. Boot capacity is now an enormous class-leading 536 litres.

The Honda City is the second vehicle in the range to feature Honda’s new state-of-the-art audio system – Display Audio – that can mirror certain functions of a compatible Apple iPhone (iPhone 5 and above) such as Honda satellite navigation and approved third party apps.

It also allows seamless integration for Bluetooth and audio streaming with a smartphone and can be operated with Siri Eyes Free (compatible Apple iPhones only). The feature is standard across the range.

The new Honda City will be on-sale from mid-April.
