Holden aims high with all-new Equinox mid-size SUV

Holden is aiming for a come back in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment with the all-new Equinox crossover. Slated to go on sale in December, Holden has today released pricing and specification for the successor to the Captiva.

Promising segment leading technology, practicality and performance, the Equinox is part of Holden’s new product onslaught which will see it battle it out at the top of the mid-size SUV segment.

Putting safety first, Equinox’s list of safety technology features include active safety aides such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Side Blind Spot Alert, all combining to create a radar-sensor shield to cover the car from every angle.

There’s also comfort and infotainment standouts including active noise cancellation, driver’s seat safety alert, heated front and rear seats, hands-free power tailgate and wireless phone charging.

A range of turbocharged four-cylinder powerplants will be offered, starting with the 1.5-litre turbo and 2.0-litre turbo petrols available from December 2017, followed by a 1.6-litre turbo diesel joining the line-up in 2018.

“Equinox is a game-changer for Holden and will undoubtedly battle it out at the top of the mid-size SUV segment,” said Holden’s Executive Director – Sales, Michael Filazzola.

“Our customers are demanding more technology and more performance without sacrificing any practicality or value, and with Equinox, Holden is delivering once again.

“We’ve got premium features like a dual-panel panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel and safety alert drivers seat that gives a small vibration to warn drivers of potential hazards. Not to mention Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a rear-view camera as standard across the range.

“In terms of practicality, Equinox has a huge cargo space of 1798 litres when the fold-flat seats are down, a hands-free power tailgate and the one of the highest towing capacities in the segment.

“With the range starting at $27,990 and a launch offer including seven year/175,000km warranty this car provides outstanding value to our customers.”
