Lincoln has unveiled an interesting new concept – the Lincoln Navigator – ahead of its debut at the New York Auto Show.

New Navigator Concept design was inspired by luxury sailboats and yachts, from the clean, modern lines, to the Storm Blue exterior paint to the teak finishes and custom gear found inside.

While Ford’s premium brand isn’t sold here in Australia, we thought the concept is fascinating enough to grace this page, as nothing wows quite like a pair of massive gullwing doors, especially on a full-size SUV!

Said to preview the new generation of their full-size SUV, the concept features six-seats and even a custom wardrobe management system, which the company says can hold all the gear you’ll need for “a day on the water”. All seats are adjustable in 30 ways to offer the best possible support to different body types, including independently deployable thigh support for the driver’s seat.

A custom wardrobe organizer houses specially chosen gear for a day on the water including wet suit, wind breaker and footwear.

The cabin is also equipped with WiFi connectivity and a full set of infotainment screen for all seats.

“The all-new Navigator Concept reinforces our commitment to give every Lincoln client what we call quiet luxury – vehicles and experiences that are elegant, effortlessly powerful and serene,” said Lincoln’s president, Kumar Galhotra.

Access to the New Navigator Concept is provided through power gullwing doors and deployable concertina steps.

“This kind of quiet luxury sets Lincoln apart. Now, we’re showing fans of large SUVs how we can exceed their expectations, without being the loudest statement on the road,” he said.

Under the fancy doors and yacht-inspired detailing is a new chassis and Ford’s 3.5-litre Ecoboost V6 engine developing more than 294kW of power. It also comes with the latest Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, a 360-degree camera, parking assistance system and lane-keeping assist.
