Gold Nissan GT-R ‘Usain Bolt Edition’ delivered to Auction Winner

Nissan has just delivered one of the world’s rarest GT-R supercars to an Australian customer. Sold at a special charity auction in late 2012, the winning bidder from Melbourne, Australia, paid $US187,100 for the stunning gold Nissan GT-R.

One of only two made, the unique Nissan GT-R MY13 is a replica of the one-of-a-kind version made especially for Olympic gold-medallist Usain Bolt, who has been recently appointed Nissan’s Director of Excitement. Last year, Mr Bolt took delivery of the special edition Nissan GT-R, a custom gold-coloured example bristling with various unique features.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Usain Bolt Foundation to help with its mission of creating educational and cultural opportunities for children and young people in Usain Bolt’s home country of Jamaica.

The special Gold GT-R purchased by the winning bidder is based on the 2013 model year Nissan GT-R. This unique gold-painted example features a BOSE® audio system and 10-spoke RAYS® aluminium-alloy forged wheels specially coated in hyper-titanium colour. The visual specifications of the car, including exterior colour, interior colour and wheels, were selected by Bolt himself.

“Nissan is proud to support the Usain Bolt Foundation and excited that the highest bidder hails from Melbourne, Australia,” said Nissan Australia Managing Director and CEO William F Peffer Jr. Commenting on the donation from Nissan, Usain Bolt said, “My partnership with Nissan greatly benefits the work of my Foundation. This donation will help many kids get access to better facilities, play areas and educational materials in Jamaica. I am delighted to be working with Nissan to do this.” The new owner of the “Bolt Gold” Nissan GT-R from Australia said, “The Nissan GT-R just gets better and better and more refined each year, and the fact that this gold GT-R also celebrates the incredible achievements of the great Usain Bolt makes it something very special indeed.”
