First Look: Infiniti Q30 Concept

Infiniti has provided a first look at the Q30 Concept which will have its world premiere at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The new concept signals the next step in Infiniti’s ambitious plan to extend the its line up.

Aim at luring younger buyers to the brand, the Infiniti Q30 Concept will showcase the marque’s future design language in a new premium segment. The concept represents the latest evolution of the Infiniti design philosophy introduced with the Infiniti Q50 which had its world premiere at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Like the Q50, the Infiniti Q30 Concept also incorporates dramatic design cues from the visionary Infiniti concept trilogy – Essence, Etherea and Emerg-e.

The Infiniti Q30 Concept was designed to deliberately challenge categorisation – not a coupe, not a hatch and not a crossover but a fusion of the three body styles. It is designed for younger customers seeking an alternative to traditional premium compact vehicles and open to convention-challenging approaches.

If green-lighted for production, the Q30 will compete with other similar models in the compact premium segment such as the Lexus CT200h, BMW 1-Series, Mercedes A-Class and Audi A3.

Infiniti is confident this merging of the dynamic design and sportiness of a coupe, the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance of a crossover will resonate with these customers.
