The top-selling Mazda3 range has expanded with the addition of a diesel option – the new Mazda3 XD Astina. Available in hatchback only, the XD is available in two transmission types – a 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual or a 6-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic.

The Mazda3 XD Astina sits at the top of the line-up with a price of $40,230 for the 6-speed manual and $42,230 for the automatic, excluding on-roads.

Powered by the same 2.2 litre SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine that is currently available on both Mazda6 and CX-5, it produces a class-leading outputs of 129kW and 420Nm.

The SKYACTIV-D diesel engine also features i-Stop and i-ELOOP, Mazda’s regenerative braking system, to help achieve fuel efficiency as low as 5.0 litres per 100km, an improvement of 12 per cent over the previous, less powerful diesel engine.

Joining the 114 kW/200 Nm SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and 138 kW/250 Nm SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre petrol engines, the new diesel is now the most efficient in the Mazda3 range.

Mirroring the equipment available on the petrol-powered Mazda3 SP25 Astina, the new XD Astina is set apart thanks to 18 inch alloy wheels, LED fog-lamps, a black painted lower rear bumper, a red accent around the front grille and black leather seats with suede trim.
