Ahead of its much anticipated launch in Australia, Mazda has revealed grades and pricing for the new CX-8 seven-seat SUV.
Arriving at dealerships in July, Mazda’s diesel-only SUV slots between the full-size CX-9 seven seater and CX-5 mid-size crossover with pricing starting from $42,490 plus on-road costs.
The three-tier Mazda CX-8 range is exclusively powered by a 2.2L SKYACTIV-D twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 140kW and a huge 450Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard across the line-up while both front-wheel and all-wheel drive variants are available.
Measuring 4,900 mm long, 1,840 mm wide and 1,730 mm high, the CX-8 is about as wide as a CX-5. Its wheelbase of 2,930 mm is identical to that of the CX-9 but its width is about 120mm narrower and its length is 162mm shorter.
Offered in two model grades, there are three variants of the CX-8 Diesel available, starting with Sport FWD, Sport AWD and the range topping Asaki AWD. All models promise strong performance and excellent fuel economy, combined with seven-seat versatility and comfort.

The CX-8 continues Mazda’s premium KODO design philosophy with a sculpted front signature wing, bold grille and coupe-like silhouette. Inside, the CX-8’s interior is predominantly shared with the smaller CX-5.
A wide range of i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies are offered as standard across the range. Full specifications will be announced closer to the CX-8 launch in the second half of the year.
