Citroën released some details and photos of the new Citroën Divine DS concept ahead of its premier at the 2014 Paris Motor Show next month.

The concept is set to preview the styling direction for the French manufacturer’s DS lineup, and is described as having “avant garde design” and “visible technologies, refinement and a balance between comfort and dynamics” by head of DS, Yves Bonnefont.

The Divine DS is a sporty-looking five-door that, albeit on first glance, looks almost like a three-door hatch. The front pair of doors open upwards, while the rear doors are back hinged. Its strongly stylised, windowless rear hatch is particular striking, too. To compensate for the lack of rear window, the concept adopts a rear view camera that displays images onto a digital rear view mirror. Surprisingly, a pair of conventional door mirrors remain.

The front of the car is rather more conventional, with a prominent diamond-studded 3D grille flanked by a pair of LED infused headlights.

Inside, Citroën has partnered with jeweller, Swarovski, and embroidery company, Lesage, to create the luxurious cabin with four individual seats that are separated by a full-length centre console.

There are three distinct styles of interior finish, called Male, Parisienne Chic and Fatale Punk.

As the name suggests, Parisienne Chic features embroidered door panels, pleated silk and rich leather intended to evoke the haute couture world. Carbon fibre is the main material of choice for Male, while Fatale Punk features quilted, jewellery studded leather and a glittering Swarovski Crystal fabric.

Citroën has yet to release details of the concept’s drivetrain except that it has a 161kW engine driving the front wheels.
