Citroen has launched the five-seat C4 Picasso in Australia. Said to be more of a hatch than a people mover, thanks to its share EMP2 platform with the Peugeot 308, the stylish C4 Picasso joins the larger Grand C4 Picasso in the French company’s MPV lineup.

Priced from $40,990 excluding on-road costs, the new model claims to bring with it a number of segment first features and technology, including a 360-degree bird’s eye view monitor, automatic park assist, a segment best six-year unlimited kilometre warranty and the largest boot in the segment at 537 litres.

Available in a single specification, the C4 Picasso features a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an all-new six-speed automatic transmission. It develops 121kW of power and 240Nm of torque, enabling the MPV to dash from 0-100km/h in 9.3 seconds. It is claimed to return a combine fuel consumption of 5.6L/100km.

Inside, the C4 Picasso offers a light, roomy and airy cabin environment punctuated by dual TFT (Thin-Film Transfer) screens – the upper, which acts as the car’s instruments, offering a 12-inch, high-definition, panoramic display, while the lower touch-sensitive 7-inch screen offers control of all on-board and vehicle functions.

Highlights of the car’s features include 17-inch alloy wheels, auto headlights and wipers, LED daytime running lights, blind-spot monitoring, panoramic sunroof and individually folding second-row seats.

Citroen Australia General Manager, John Startari, said the five-seat C4 Picasso will offer consumers an attractive, feature-packed and practical solution to their family motoring needs.

“The C4 Picasso arrives at a time when this segment is growing, but it is a very strong proposition in terms of vehicle features, warranty, service and support,” said Startari.

“The C4 Picasso has been specified to offer everything the family will need as standard equipment.

“Picasso is neither an SUV, nor an MPV or wagon. We believe it will appeal to a wide variety of Australian buyers looking for a modern, flexible and innovative vehicle that is great to look at and easy to live with,” said Startari.
