Can a humble wagon beat a Porsche and a Ferrari?

To highlight the performance of the new Skoda Superb, and to find the answer, Skoda has pitched its new Superb 2.0 TSI Estate against a collection of supercar classics.

With 206kW and all-wheel drive, the new Superb 2.0 TSI is the most powerful production Skoda ever built. It is capable of demolishing 0-100km/h in 5.8 seconds, making it faster than a host of classic supercars that were hailed as some of the quickest machines of their generation.

To prove the fact, the company pitted the Superb Estate against a raft of iconic supercars from yesteryears, including the Honda NSX, Lotus Espirt, Ferrari 308 GTB and Porsche 911 Carrera.

Despite its massive 660-litre boot and spacious interior, the Superb easily beat those models in a short drag race.

The new Skoda Superb is priced from $39,990 plus on-roads in Australia and is offered in 162TSI, 140TDI and 206TSI. The Estate costs an additional $1,700.
