Bugatti working on New Veyron with 1,600HP

Just when you thought the 1,200 horsepower Bugatti Veyron SuperSport is the pinnacle of internal combustion, the French carmaker will bring out an even more extreme iteration of the Veyron at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show next year.

Bugatti is reportedly working on a new lighter and more powerful Veyron that will be based on the SuperSport. The 8.0-litre W16 engine in the current Veyron will be updated with its capacity increased to 9.6-litre. The new Veyron will boast a power output of 1,600 horsepower, 400 more than the already insane SuperSport.

Apart from the increase in power, the 2013 Bugatti Veyron will also undergo a weight reduction of 250kg to bring the weight down to 1,600kg. At that weight the new Veyron will have a power to weight ratio of 1 horsepower for every kilogram or 1,000hp/tonne!

The massive power means the new Veyron will break the 100 km/h mark from standstill in a neck wrecking 1.8 seconds and set a new world fastest speed record of 463 km/h.

The end of internal combustion? Not quite..
