The much anticipated BMW X2 crossover coupe has emerged in production form for the first time, albeit fully camouflaged. Inching closer to its debut later this year, the X2 pre-production model was released into its future environment – the urban jungle, sporting yellow, grey and black highlights on its camouflage design and looking remarkably similar to the X2 concept.
The upcoming member of BMW’s ever expanding X family of crossovers will slot above the X1 to appeal to buyers who want a sportier alternative to the compact SUV. Like the X4 is to the X3, the X2 is essentially the X1’s more stylish sibling, sporting a raked roofline and four-doors.
Competing against the Mercedes-Benz GLA and recently launched Audi Q2, the BMW X2 is expected to share its powertrain line-up with the X1 compact SUV. This means a mix of 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with front- and all-wheel-drive configuration.
The BMW X2 has been confirmed for Australia and is expected to hit showrooms in early 2018.
