BMW planning hardcore M4 GTS?

A derivative of the BMW M4 has been spotted at the Nurburgring circuit undergoing track test. Wearing little camouflage and cleverly disguised as a Safety Car for the 2014 Motor GP Championship to divert speculation, the one of a kind M4 sports a front splitter, DTM-style fixed rear spoiler and wider rear tyres.

A hardcore version of the M4? We suspect this could be either the M4 CSL or M4 GTS, although the latter is more likely. The previous generation M3 GTS packed a few more kilowatts under the bonnet, a roll cage, racing bucket seats, sports suspension and uprated brakes.

The track ready M4 is expected to adopt the same flavour, motivated by a tweaked version of the standard car’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 cylinder engine. In standard form, the high-revving engine produces a maximum output of 317 kW and 550 Nm.
