BMW M2 spied pounding the Nurburgring [video]

The highly anticipated BMW M2 hits the Nurburgring once again for some heavy track action, after its stints at the notorious circuit earlier in May this year. This time, the action was captured on film by spy videographers.

The M2 will serve as the successor to the 1 Series M Coupe and sit atop the 2 Series range as the new performance flagship. Partially camouflaged, the M2 can be seen having the same bonnet, roof and boot body panels as the standard 2 Series coupe. Fans can however, look forward to some pumped up wheel fenders, side skirts, deeper front bumper with larger air intake, rear bumper with integrated diffuser and quad exhaust tips.

Word on the street is that the M2 will get its power from a twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline-six engine developing around 279kW, making it 39kW more powerful than the current range topping M235i Coupe. Expect the sprint from zero to 100km/h in the low 4s. If all things go according to plan, we shall expect to see covers pulled off the BMW M2 by mid 2015.
