As the BMW M2 inches closer towards production, testing has also become more intensive. The performance flagship of the 2 Series range has been spotted undergoing more testing at the famed Nurburgring circuit recently, as our friends with the lens managed to photograph the half-camouflaged M2 in action around the green hell.

Despite the prototype looking more like a hot up version of a standard 2 Series coupe than anything plausible, the production BMW M2 is expected to continue its predecessor’s aggressive styling with wider body panels and M’s signature quad exhaust tips.

Speculation is that the M2 will get its power from a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine developing around 279 kW, making it 39 kW more powerful than the current range topping M235i Coupe. If all things go according to plan, we shall expect to see covers pulled off the BMW M2 by late 2015.
